My Filmography
Above is "5 x 5 The Last Night Train". I felt that this film gave across the message of the film came across, I used the shot of the cigarette butt on the floor and the bin as I wanted it to juxtapose to the shot of the man's face. I used this so that the audience could make a connection between the three shots and therefore give the audience an insight into the man who is waiting at the train station.
I feel that if I did the film again, I would have used a tripod as there is shake on a few of the clips, I also feel that the shots are jarring and don't flow as well as I anticipated. I also would have filmed the Leeds train coming in as I had to film the Manchester train which was coming in the wrong direction because of the 180' degree rule, even though most of my viewers haven't noticed this, I personally felt that it made the film jar. When on location, I did this as I wanted the shot to be a point of view and as if he had been drinking, but I don't think that the use of shots had backed this up enough and I think that it was too much to imply in the final shot of the sequence.
Above is another 5 x 5 film. This one is called Jewellery Store. This one I tried to use contrast and focus pulls to gloss the piece as if it was an advertisement of the pieces available. I wanted to use two separate shots which focus pulled into each other and I felt that I achieved this.
I think that if I did this film again I would have shot with more precision on the focus pulls and I would have also made a sequence with just one piece of jewellery as I felt I tried to pick at more than I could chew with only 5, 5 second shots.
Above is the film "Waiting" in a lesson with Mark Duggan, we were given the task of editing some of his footage from his music video "My Own Worst Enemy" of a fight between the main character and 3 men, then cross cutting this with some of our own material.
For this piece, I cut out the footage copyright to our lecturer and put my own footage together into a sequence, although it is weaker than the original with the copyrighted footage I think it works together well and I feel that it conveys the message I wanted to get across to the audience of waiting and putting the audience in the position of the audience.
The above piece is a poetic documentary set to the poem, Ode to Life and Death by Cynthia Onukwaga. The film was designed to display living life to the full and to think about how short time is.
I think that it would have been better if I had storyboarded the film and made the scenes follow on from each other better. I also feel that the size quality of some of the shots are different and this effects the final quality of the piece. I think it works well for the intended purpose and from the responses I have received it has made them think and this was the intended idea of the film.
More films coming soon...
